Art Festival
Over the next 2 weeks - I would really appreciate you all keeping an eye out for as many GREEN objects as possible.
GREEN is the FS1D Class Colour and the colour we will be concentrating on for the Art Festival.
The GREEN materials collected will be used for weaving, construction, collage and display - so whatever you find, do not hesitate to keep it to one side and bring into class on the first day back!
Many thanks for your continued support!

Arabian Ranches Polo Club
We had a wonderful time on our trip to Arabian Ranches Polo Club. Unfortunately we were stuck in traffic on Sheik Zayed Road for a short while but soon got underway for a very exciting trip towards the Ranches. FS1A & FS1D were greeted upon arrival and taken straight towards the stables to view some stunning Horses.
We were given an extremely informative talk by one of the stable girls, who talked us through the various features of a horse, the horses living quarters and the horses daily routine.
The children were able to get a little more hands on when they visited a pony, stroking him gently and feeding him hay! Following this we visited the 'tack' room for a Kodak moment (see below)!
The visit ended with a lovely picnic and a very quiet journey home with some very sleepy children!!

We have started a brand new Topic this week - 22nd March-. Our new Topic is all about Dubai. This week, we aim to cover quite a few aspects including: Location by looking at an Atlas and a Globe, the Desert - including wildlife/ Camels and touching upon local foods.

Week 3 Animals Topic : JUNGLE
Week 3 of the Animal Topic, brought along much excitement as we explored animals in the Jungle!
We looked at Spots & Stripes, completed some beautiful Artwork and discovered new methods of painting......with our feet!! We had a few reluctant children to participate in the green jungle dance, but when they saw how much fun their peers were having, they soon took their socks off!
This week I have enclosed a few pictures of the children's masterpieces for you all to enjoy!
.....next week - Animals on the Farm.

Week 2 Animals Topic : PETS
'BIG' Thank-you to Lottie and her family for the loan of their Hamster on Thursday!
The children were over- joyed to see another animal in class!
BOOK DAY Wednesday 4th March
Book Day is soon upon us again at JPS.
This is a time where the children have the opportunity to dress as a character from a book, bring the book into school and then have a talk to others about why they enjoyed their book!
This year we have a whole school theme of 'Heroes & Villains', but in FS1 we do not want to put parents to any added expense, as you have already supplied costumes for our 'Sing-a-long' Concert last year. Therefore please let your child come along dressed up for an exciting day and if possible to bring along the appropriate book!
Many thanks!

Another visitor
Week 2 Animals Topic
The little 'Monkeys Class' have been very excited this week as we concentrate on the theme of 'Pets'.
Mrs. Armstrong - a JPS swim teacher, bought in her dog 'Molly' and gave a very interesting talk to the children about how important it is to look after animals once you get them as a pet!.....and how much care they need from us as owners to be strong and healthy!
Brand New Topic!
We started the second half of this term with a brand new Topic!
We are looking at 'Animals'!
As the first week (17th - 19th Feb) was only a short week we decided to give a gentle introduction to the topic, firstly looking at which animals are covered in Fur/ Feathers/ Scales/ Skin etc. Then we looked at how the animals move around, using Paws/ Fins/ Webbed Feet or Claws!
During our PE lesson we thought about the different movements of animals and how they swing, slither, stomp and scurry!
The children thoroughly enjoyed their first week of Animals!!

People Who Help Us!
This week we are starting a brand new topic 'People Who Help Us'. Within this topic we will be looking at the Emergency Services and people who are here to help us within the school environment!
During this week we will be concentrating on Hospitals, Doctors and Nurses and also looking at the roles of personnel in school.
Please take a few minutes to take a look at the Balloons picture that will be sent home on Sunday - displaying what activities will be covered within each area of the curriculum.
If you have any bits and pieces that you feel would benefit this topic and in particular doctor or nurses equipment, I would be most grateful!
